      The High Court has found the Department of Conservation DoC acted unlawfully for decades by failing to implement its own legislation.

      One person has died after a two-vehicle crash involving a truck near Rotorua.

      The crash on State Highway 30 at Rotoiti was reported around 11.40am yesterday,

      Police said today that one person was found dead and the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

      Inquiries into the crash were ongoing.

      The road was closed for several hours with a long detour in place via SH33 and SH2 and reopened around 2.50pm.

      NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said on Monday the crash was beside the lake west of Tamateatutahi St, between Tikitere (SH33) and Kawerau Rd West (SH34).

      Motorists were warned at the time to allow time for a “long detour”.

      A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance and one primary response in medical emergencies responder went to the scene.

      The spokesperson said one patient in a moderate condition was being transported to Rotorua Hospital but referred any other information requests to police.
