With Crankworx Rotorua now here, countless riders have been training hard - including three local Crankworx ambassadors, who will be ones to keep your eyes peeled for come competition time.

Local ambassadors Lisa Horlor, Matt Walker and Louis Hamilton will be joined by fellow Kiwis Kelly McGarry, Raewyn Morrison, Wyn Masters and Justin Leov.

Mr Walker has been to Crankworx events in both Canada and France and is looking forward to competing on home turf.

"I'm really excited for Crankworx coming to Rotorua. I have attended both the Whistler and Les 2 Alpes events so have experienced their way of doing things - but now it's our turn to show off what we have.

"New Zealand bike culture and our amazing courses and scenery will offer an amazing event for all involved. I will be looking to better my two second place finishes in the Pump Track in the last two Crankworx Les 2 Alpes events, along with competing in the Giant Toa Enduro, Downhill and Whip-Off Champs. It's going to be a full on week and I can't wait."

At the other end of the scale, Crankworx Rotorua will be Ms Horlor's first Crankworx outing and she is competing in a number of events including the Giant Toa Enduro, Crankworx Rotorua Downhill, Official Oceania Whip-Off Championships and the Pump Track Challenge.

"Crankworx to me celebrates everything I love about riding bikes, fun events, people and pushing boundaries."

Downhill expert Mr Hamilton said it was exciting news to have Crankworx in his hometown.

"Having the top riders from all around the world come to race in Rotorua and see what we have to offer in many aspects - our community and culture, our nature.
