Local charities have until next Friday to apply for a slice of the $40,000 made from the sale of Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology's 2018 Charity House.

The money will be distributed to local charities through the Rotary Rotorua Sunrise.

The house was built as part of Toi Ohomai's annual Charity House Project, which sees students gain hands-on experience building a house, while contributing to the community.

The 2018 house sold for 10 per cent more than the 2017 house, going under the hammer for $230,000.

Expressions of interest from local charities close next Friday.
