Rotorua Boys' High School head prefect, Jordi Webber is this week's Daily Post Rising Star.
Principal Chris Grinter said the teenager was demonstrating skills at a high level.
"Jordi is a remarkable young man not only for his ability to provide leadership to the student body in a direct sense, but also
through the wonderful example he sets for the school in terms of excellence across a wide range of school activities."
In 2010 Jordi as a Year 12 student came runner-up in the Senior English section of the National Manu Korero Speech Competition. Last year he had the lead role in the school's production of The Wedding Singer. Last year Jordi also gained his NCEA Level 2 with Merit and so demonstrated his ability to manage his time given his busy schedule.
Jordi is passionate about the stage, theatre, music and oratory and he seeks to develop his skills and abilities in this regard so that he can pursue a career within the area of performing arts.
Jordi currently has his first television role as part of the New World TV advertisement. He is a part-time employee of New World.
Jordi is the holder of the Geyser Community Foundation Rotorua Boys' High School Scholarship for Speech and Drama, allowing him to access professional training in theatre and in music.
"On a personal level Jordi is a remarkable young man and his inaugural address to the school this year was inspirational.
"Jordi Webber is a talent that the city of Rotorua can certainly be proud of both today and in the future."
