Robin Hood and his band of merry men have crash landed at Rotorua's Shambles Theatre bringing with them laughs for the whole family.

It is the Redwood Forest as you have never seen it, filled with green felt hats, bow and arrow wielding heroes and cross-dressing villains.

The Rotorua Little Theatre performance of Robin Hood and the Merry Men of the Redwood Forest is a classic pantomime performance - oh no it isn't.

The fresh and funny take on the classic tale finds itself right at home in Rotorua and even comes with a few jokes about Lynmore.

Under the guidance of director Steve English the small cast had the audience laughing, booing and yelling at the stage.

The action centres on the heroic outlaw Robin Hood (Kira Lees) as he attempts to take down the horrible Prince John (Tim Eardly) and win a kiss from his beloved Maid Marion (Maia Carrington).

Although the show is suitable for children it is also jam-packed with innuendo to keep the adults laughing too.

The Sheriff of Hamilton, played by Richard Rugg, gave an excellent performance, stealing the stage with his villainous glares and comedic timing.

Regular fixtures on the RLT stage Wendy Burgess, Eardly and Lees also give performances that are not to be missed.

A commendation must also go to the team behind the scenes.

The set design was wonderful, from the campfire to the dungeons and the use of music was fun and lighthearted.
