Business owners with an interest in the economy and investors looking to the future are among groups being encouraged to head along to a talk being given by the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in Rotorua next week.

Grant Spencer will be speaking on Wednesday at a lunchtime function being held by the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber chief executive Darrin Walsh said he expected the talk to have wide appeal, with Mr Spencer speaking about the New Zealand economy, as well as answering questions from the audience.

"Any business owner that has an interest in the economy and the drivers of the economy should be interested, as well as anyone that has an interest in interest rates, like investors."

Mr Walsh said through the Pukeroa Oruawhata Holdings Limited-sponsored Focus on Business series they aimed to attract more speakers to Rotorua, like Mr Spencer.

"I would like to see great support.

Businesses should be interested and $35 is a small investment in your business if you come away with learnings or knowledge."

Mr Walsh said he wanted to see between 50-60 people at the talk.

"Anyone who is in business should have an interest, at the end of the day they [the Reserve Bank] set the monetary policy."

Mr Walsh said the talk would also be useful for those looking to invest in property.

The talk is on Wednesday at Distinction Hotel from mid-day to 1.30pm. Tickets are $35 which includes platters and a cash bar, or $20 for the presentation only, with people to arrive at 12.30pm.

They are available through the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce.
