A man has been flown to hospital after injuring his leg at a remote farm outside Rotorua.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched at 5pm yesterday to a farm near Lake Rotomahana, 25km southeast of Rotorua.

A man had received injuries to his leg on a remote part of the farm and emergency services found it difficult to reach him.

The rescue helicopter was able to land near the man and on-board paramedics were able to stabilise him at the scene.

With help from locals and Rotorua police, the man was stretchered to the waiting rescue helicopter.

He was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital in a comfortable condition for further treatment.
