The cast of TV3 comedy show 7 Days brings its 7 Days Live Tour to Rotorua on December 18. Entertainment reporter Adriana Weber chats to funny men Jeremy Elwood and Jeremy Corbett ahead of the show.

Are you looking forward to coming to Rotorua?

Jeremy Corbett: I love going to Rotorua. As a youngster the whole family would be packed up in the Morris 1800 for dad's annual conference in Rotorua. We'd make what felt like a three-day drive from Palmerston North and would have the best time at the International Hotel. Hot pools and raspberry lemonade. My brain now has a pavlovian excitement response to visiting Rotorua. I hope you have raspberry lemonade.

Jeremy Elwood: The whole tour should be great, it's a fantastic way to end the year and last time we were in Rotorua the hotel had a pool. Here's hoping.

What do you think makes 7 Days such a great show to watch?

Jeremy Corbett: Seven comedians. It's like 12 monkeys, eventually something funny will happen. And with seven, you've gotta like one of them. If not, then you've gotta hate one of them. Either way you're going to find it compelling viewing.

Jeremy Elwood: The teamwork element, watching us all have as much fun as the audience (hopefully) are.

Why should Rotorua locals come along to watch the show?

Jeremy Corbett: Because I will be offering my layman's take on Rotorua, the good, the bad and the ugly. You will go away with a new appreciation for your city, or a new hatred for me.

Jeremy Elwood: To get the live experience. You can almost touch us. But please don't.

What motivated you to want to become a comedian?

Jeremy Corbett: I'm from a big family and each of us kids had to develop a way of being noticed, therefore fed. I went for gags. Worked well. Still getting fed.

Jeremy Elwood: The lack of major feature film lead roles I was being offered.

What do you love most about your job?

Jeremy Corbett: Talking crap with mates and being paid for it.

Jeremy Elwood: When the audience are right there with you, and you can take them to laughter places they didn't know they wanted to discover.

What's the hardest part about it?

Jeremy Corbett: I don't want to burst the fun bubble here, but there's work involved (I know).

Jeremy Elwood: The hours are a bit weird, to say the least.

What advice would you give to those who want to follow in your shoes and become comedians?

Jeremy Corbett: Every journey starts with the first step, or maybe packing, or perhaps online booking ... anyway, the metaphor is racing away on me. Just Nike it. Find a club, watch the rookie night. Book yourself in for a spot. Go.

Jeremy Elwood: Just get on stage and try. There's nothing you can learn from a book or a class that can replace experience. See you at the show.

-Jeremy Corbett and Jeremy Elwood will perform alongside Dai Henwood, Paul Ego, Ben Hurley, Josh Thomson and Urzila Carlson at Rotorua's Civic Theatre on December 18. Tickets available from Ticketmaster, ticketmaster.co.nz.
