Retailers from across the Bay of Plenty region no matter how big or small are urged to enter the prestigious 2019 Retail New Zealand Awards.

In a written statement, Retail New Zealand's public affairs general manager Greg Harford, said the aim of the awards was to celebrate the "very best" of retailing in the region.

"Retail is at the centre of communities right around the country," Harford said.

"No matter where your store is located, how big it is, or whether you are online or bricks and mortar, you can be part of New Zealand's leading retail awards competition.

"We are really encouraging all retailers to take part because it's a great way of celebrating success, building team morale, and even getting customers in behind your store."

Harford said there were several prestigious awards on offer - Customer Experience, Investment in People, Omnichannel Retailing and Visual Merchandising.

Customers had the opportunity to vote for the winner of the coveted People's Choice Award and there were supreme awards for the best large and small retailer in the country.

Harford said the entry process was simple, and entries closed on March 25.

Retail NZ had been running awards for many years, and winning one of these awards allowed a local retailer to promote they were one of the best in the business, he said.

Past winners from the Bay of Plenty include the Agrodome in Rotorua and Cruiseabout Tauranga.

Any retailer could enter, whether or not they were a member of Retail New Zealand.
