Today is the last day for Rotorua residents to post their votes in this year's local body elections.
Voting papers must be received by midday on Saturday, October 9, election day.
However, that won't be a problem for Fordland's resident Toni Kinita who said she won't be voting in this year's election.
"I did vote last time but this year it's been really boring, I've hardly noticed there was an election on.
"It does matter who's in control but I don't even know who's standing for mayor. Last time I knew who I wanted to vote for but this year I have no idea, I guess people will stick with the same people."
Ms Kinita said she wouldn't be complaining about Rotorua's new council or mayor as "you have to vote if you want to have a moan about them".
On the other hand, Pukehangi resident Melody Marukore said it was important to have your say if people wanted a safer community.
"The important issue for me is crime and the fact Rotorua needs more police. It's really hard to get into the police in Rotorua but our crime rate seems to be going up, why can't we up the numbers of police here?" she asked.
She said anyone had a right to complain, even if they didn't vote.
"But if they feel so strongly about an issue they should just vote."
Meanwhile, Rotorua District Council electoral officer Peter Christophers said if locals hadn't posted their voting papers back by today, they could drop them off at the council's Civic Centre or City Focus.
"Papers must reach the council before midday Saturday, October 9, to be included in the vote count," he said.
Mr Christophers also reminded residents they could cast a special vote at the council's Civic Centre if their voting papers had not arrived, or if they were lost or destroyed.
"As of yesterday 12,795 voting papers have been returned in Rotorua. This represents 28.7 per cent of voters registered for the local elections."
At the last local body elections in 2007, only 45 per cent of Rotorua's 44,426 voters actually voted.
Mr Christophers said a progress count for the elections would be posted on the council's website, www.rdc.govt.nz, starting on Saturday afternoon.
