Police are yet to release the names of a man and baby who died following separate incidents that happened just days apart.
A 17-month-old child found critically injured inside a Maungatapu property at 4.30pm on March 27 died at Starship Hospital two days later on March 29.
A police mediacommunications spokeswoman told the Bay of Plenty Times police were continuing to investigate the cause of the child's injuries and the circumstances leading up to the incident.
A little more than 24 hours earlier on March 28, a man in his 40s died following a workplace accident at Pukepine Sawmills in Te Puke.
In a statement, Pukepine general manager Jeff Tanner said the company had closed its doors for a few days following the death of an employee.
"It is with enormous sadness that on Thursday 28th of March we lost a husband, father, friend, and valued employee during a workplace accident at Pukepine Sawmills," Tanner said.
Investigations into the fatal accident were ongoing.
