Police seek help after elderly man seriously hurt in crash

Police are calling for help to find out what happened in a crash that seriously injured a 92-year-old man.

The man was flown to Tauranga Hospital yesterday after the ute he was travelling in crashed into a stationary truck and trailer unit about 5pm.

The crash happened on State Highway 2, at Waiotahi, east of Opotiki.

The man suffered multiple injuries and was flown by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter to hospital in a serious condition.

No one else was injured.

Police said they were keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the crash.

People with information can contact Whakatane police on (07) 308 5255.
