Keenan said while nationally the road toll was high, police were focused on keeping Rotorua's road toll low.
"Of the tickets, 95 per cent were for the fatal five offences, but speed is a major factor in that."
The fatal five offences are speeding, not wearing restraints, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while distracted, and dangerous or careless driving.
The road policing unit has been focused on the state highway networks around Rotorua for the past few weeks.
Fifteen vehicle driving complaints were reported to police and two accidents on the road.
"Eleven of those vehicle driving complaints had enforcement actions taken," Keenan said.
"We do follow up on all of those phone calls."
Thefts are on the rise
Keenan said police were still seeing an overall reduction in offences, including crime and serious crime.
"Our area of concern is still around unlawful taking, from property, tourist spots and vehicles."
So far this year 42 reports of theft have been made to the police, a 24 per cent increase on the same time last year.
"Trailers are one of the items that keep coming up as stolen," Keenan said.
10 family harm incidents a day
There were 68 reported incidents of family violence during the past week.
While that's down on the 100 a week sometimes reported, Keenan said it was still up on last week.
"We are averaging just under 10 a day, that's still too much harm in the community."
Mixed weekend for police
At the weekend police dealt with a car chase, fighting outside bars and a gun.
"On Sunday a stolen ute failed to stop for police on Te Ngae Rd," Keenan said
"The driver [drove off] at speeds of up to 150km/h and police abandoned the pursuit."
He said police were now making inquiries to find the driver.
In the early hours of Sunday, police had to deal with a group of women fighting outside Outlaw bar.
Keenan said they also received reports of an incident at Kuirau Park about 6.40pm on Sunday.
"A male was doing burnouts and was confronted by a member of the public.
"He then presented a sawn-off shotgun before leaving the scene."
Burglaries reported since last Wednesday
Eleven burglaries have been reported to police since Wednesday last week.
Keenan said the burglaries were committed in a range of suburbs.
Among them was an incident on Argus St in Sunnybrook overnight on Friday.
The offender gained entry to the house through the back door before closing the curtains to avoid detection.
There was then a "messy search of the house".
Neighbours heard banging and noticed the curtains were shut.
The offender took a Giant Anthem mountain bike valued at $3500, a jewellery box with items valued more than a few thousand dollars, an iPad valued at $500, a $100 gift card, $300 in cash, chips, chocolates, a bottle of milk, a GoPro camera valued at $300 and a set of drill tools.
Tourists were also targeted in two incidents.
Two American tourists staying in the Victoria suburb of Rotorua lost a variety of items when an offender entered through a sliding door.
A US passport, two bank cards, health insurance information, medication, US$800, NZ$500, credit cards, a purse and a driver's licence were all stolen from the dining room table.
A German tourist who parked overnight at Boyes Beach had his wallet taken through the window off the kitchen table in his camper.
A wallet, German driver's licence, German healthcare/insurance card, two credit cards and about $400 in cash were taken.

Station open day a real success
With the sausage sizzle selling out and a record number of people interested in becoming recruits, the Rotorua police station open day was a "real success".
Keenan said a much higher number of people than ever before put their name down as potential new recruits.
"It was a real success for us.
"We will now be following up with all of those people."
