Police investigate suspicious death in Kawerau

UPDATE:Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 23-year-old in Kawerau.

Rotorua Daily Post reporter at the scene Katee Shanks said a section of Hall Rd about 20m long had been cordoned off.

Two women who appear to be upset were standing just on the outside of the cordon.

She said the police forensic team had set up a gazebo on the road directly in front of a house.

Ms Shanks said there was a small group of members of the public and neighbours who had come out to see what was happening but none wanted to talk to the media.

EARLIER: Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 23-year-old in Kawerau.

A property in Hall St was cordoned off after 1.30pm and a police forensic team is on the way to the scene.

Police are speaking to a number of people in relation to the death.
