The body discovered on a Bay of Plenty beach on Monday has been confirmed by police as the missing fisherman from Rotorua.

He was 24-year old Jason Elijah Shane Manuka Lines.

Lines went missing off Bowentown Harbour after the dinghy he was in flipped while travelling over the Bowentown Bar, south of Waihi Beach on November 20.

His body was discovered washed ashore in Cave Bay, near Anzac Bay seven days later.

Police said his family had been informed and the death had been referred to the Coroner.
