There is no shortage of things to do for those looking to get out and about in Rotorua this Labour Weekend.

Today the Rotorua branch of the National Street Rod Association is hosting the annual Nationals in Ngongotaha.

Rotorua delegate Barb Sundgren said more than 100 cars, bikes and vintage vehicles would be on display at the Ngongotaha Domain, Domain Ave from 10am to 2pm.

There will also be stalls selling arts, crafts, soaps, household goods and retro memorabilia, along with food and coffee.

Entry is by gold coin, with proceeds going to the Ngongotaha Fire Brigade, who will put on a kitchen fire display.

Ms Sundgren said members were coming from all over the country.

The public will be able to vote for People's Choice and Rodder's Choice.

"A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into restoring these cars.

"A lot of them were a pile of rust and members have worked hard to make them look how they are meant to."

Auckland's Mark Painton has been a member of the association for 10 years and is a long-time fan of the old American cars.

He has brought his 1957 Chev with him, and has another 1957 Chev which he is building.

Tomorrow families will enjoy the Lake Tarawera Spring Fair, being held from 10am to 2pm at Stoney Point Reserve.

There will be new stalls this year, including The Vegan Food Caravan, Great Grandma Jenkins Christmas Cakes, ironing board covers, wooden products for early childhood and Scent With Love - candles.

Other stalls include crepes, scented soaps, necklaces and crochet items and childrens stalls selling fudge, bird feeders, clothes, dumplings, games, homemade lemonade, and lemon honey.

The fair's auction will start at 12pm and it is a cash fair.

Parking is available at Rangiuru Bay, a short walk along the Lake Tarawera shoreline and mobility parking is available at Stoney Point.

Also on Sunday, and part of Conservation Week, is the Ohau Channel Cleanup.

It is being held at the channel from 1pm to 4pm, meeting at the end of Takinga St, Mourea.

People will be joining the River Rats for a kayak from Lake Rotorua, through the Ohau Channel, to Lake Rotoiti and pick up any rubbish from the channel and the river banks.

A limited number of kayaks are available and people must contact River Rats to book these, or people can bring their own.

This activity is weather dependent and will be cancelled or postponed in the event of strong winds.
