Which is exactly what they did.
Pikiao led 10-0 at halftime and, unlike previous weeks where they have dropped off towards the end of games, they kept their focus to close the game out and win 24-4.
Coach Jason Parata was extremely pleased with the way his side defended.
"We defended well, they didn't score until about the 69th minute.
"The whole team played well, it was an awesome team effort, it was very pleasing," Parata said.
The win gave the Pikiao players the belief that they could beat anyone come finals time.
"We know they're not invincible now.
"We have Taupo in Taupo next weekend - they're not going that well this year but they still have a big physical pack and every team is better at home."
Meanwhile, Ngongotaha suffered a 34-26 loss at home to Mangakino.
Coach Jason Walker said his players were trying hard but not getting the results.
"They're putting energy into the wrong areas, they're working harder in a lot of areas of attack and defence.
"We're losing by doing the simple things wrong," Walker said.
He said the Mangakino players ran hard the whole game.
"They exposed our outsides - they pulled us to one side and pretty much went round the outside of us.
"This week we'll be working on the basics and getting the small things right.
"When teams put us under pressure we tend to let them off by doing silly things."
