"We were up 26-0 at one stage and led 32-10 at halftime.
"I think the boys tried to do a little bit too much after that, they got into the big hits and the big runs," Parata said.
He said the standout players were prop Rikiana Te Rangi and centre Cameron Walters.
"Riki played the full 80 minutes, he ran hard and tackled hard.
"Cameron is just a classy centre, he scored the first couple of tries."
The Pikiao premier side will train with the reserve side this week, who have their last game of the round robin next weekend, before turning their focus to whoever they are facing in the semifinal.
"When you look at it we're the minor premiers and that's a big achievement for the year, once it's official.
"It's a pretty successful year compared to last season, we weren't even close to making semis last year.
"The culture change has been good. This is one part of our season done but now the hard work starts, our intensity needs to pick up in everything we do over the next two weeks."
Meanwhile, Ngongotaha were humbled by a strong Pacific side, going down 40-20.
Coach Jason Walker said his side was flat in the first half but played better in the second half.
"We didn't number up in defence and they got around us in the first half.
"We came back in the second half and started using the ball a bit more and running them round.
"We only started the game with 14 players and then lost one to injury so it was a pretty big ask," Walker said.
He said he was proud of the way his players didn't give up.
"We just need to go out and enjoy the last game I think, there's not much we benefit we can get out of it but it would be good to do well and if we win that's a bonus.
"There have been improvements but discipline and inconsistency have let us down all year."
