The Daily Post is launching a competition called Uniquely Rotorua which encourages people to take photos of something which they think represents Rotorua.

The photos need to be taken in November and submitted though a social network called Instagram, which is essentially a photo-sharing app. Photos can be taken
of anything which represents Rotorua. Once loaded to Instagram The Daily Post needs to be tagged in the picture using the handle @rotoruadailypost. Photos also need to be tagged with the hashtag #uniquelyrotorua.

The Daily Post editor Kim Gillespie said he was looking forward to seeing readers' Instagram pictures.

"It's always good to remind ourselves why we love living in Rotorua _ and this competition is a chance for locals to share their unique perspectives on their home town.

"The Instagram format is great for amateur and professional photographers alike, and the various filters can provide some nice effects.''

Entries close midday on November 30. All photos will then be placed on The Daily Post website and readers will be able to vote for their favourite picture. Some photos will also be printed in The Daily Post newspaper.

The most popular photos will make up the finalists and The Daily Post photographers will then pick a winning image with the winner being announced in The Daily Post on December 15.

The winner will enjoy dinner and a movie thanks to our competition sponsors _ restaurant Kurious Kiwi and Rotorua's Reading Cinemas.
