Alternative indie band The Phoenix Foundation is performing in the city on Sunday when Rainbow Springs brings in another original, quality Kiwi act for its summer series.
The Rotorua concert is the third in Rainbow Springs Summer Series, which going well, according to Fraser Leddie, Ngai Tahu Tourism regional generalmanager.
"We're really encouraged by the fantastic feedback from the attendees as well as the band themselves.
"The artists and our guests are saying that the acoustics of the venue are wonderful, and there is something quite magical about hearing live performances surrounded by native New Zealand bush.
"We've never done anything like this before at Rainbow Springs, but our all-weather arena and the intimacy of the venue is really quite unique," Mr Leddie said.
The Wellington band released its first album Horsepower in 2003 to critical acclaim, but most people will be familiar with its sound thanks to the 2006 Taika Waititi Film, Eagle vs Shark when the band recorded the movie's original score.
They were called upon again by Waititi for the score of Boy, and that went on to win Best Original Music in a Feature Film at the 2019 Qantas Film and Television Awards.
The band has sophisticated soundscapes, rhythmic interplay and distinctive vocals. The six-piece group has released six albums and performed all over the world, including at Glastonbury.
