A person was seriously injured after a truck rolled between Rotorua and Putaruru.

Police received reports of the single-trailer truck rolling about 1.40pm Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said.

One person was in a serious condition with both an ambulance and a helicopter at the scene, a St John spokeswoman said.

State Highway 5, west of Rotorua between State Highways 36 and 28 closed due to the crash but reopened about 5pm.
