Person critically injured in Whakatāne crash

Taneatua Rd in the Whakatāne area is closed following a single vehicle crash this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash near White Pine Bush Road at about 2.20pm, a police statement said.

“One person has received critical injuries.”

Police said the road was closed and diversions were in place.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

Hato Hone St John was called at 2.18pm and transported a patient to Whakatane Hospital in a critical condition, a spokesperson said.
