A week ago you probably hadn't heard of Roger Sutton. But the (now former) boss of CERA in Christchurch certainly became the topic of conversation around most offices in the country through the week after the allegations of workplace sexual harassment were raised.

Now I'm not saying Sutton is not guilty, because I am sure we are yet to hear the full story from both sides.

But boy, some of the things he has supposedly done wrong would see most people I have worked with in the past 20 years being charged with harassment!

Perhaps it also comes down to where we work.

In radio land it is pretty easy going, and we all seem to be pretty open minded and want to have fun.

In fact so much so, that Polly & Grant decided to actually have a "Visible G-String Friday".

I'm not the most politically correct person on the planet; in fact, many who know me well may say I am anti-PC.

And if it is now a crime to call someone "sweetie", the PC police really have taken over the planet.

I have used the term numerous times while on-air or on-stage talking to others. Should I be worried?

Is the concern about wi-fi in schools the anti-cell phone towers near schools debate all over again? To be honest when I read this last week I almost laughed out loud.

What next? Welcome to the 21st century, people.

I am a parent too, but it doesn't concern me one little bit.

I would much rather my kids have all available resources to them in their place of learning than be restricted because of some over-cautious approach to technology.

Families in our community are struggling to put food on the table and rely on the help the Salvation Army provide. At this time of the year, demand increases ten-fold, so again the Salvation Army needs our help.

Our radio station and other organisations have for the past few years hit the streets of Rotorua collecting cans. This year we are combining and going all out on one night, hitting three areas of the city with a lot of lights, noise and collectors.

It's the 2014 Rotorua Daily Post & The Hits 97.5 Food Drive for The Salvation Army Foodbank and will happen on Monday, December 6. Collectors will be in Ngongotaha, Western Heights and Springfield so listen out for us after 6pm, or if you live outside these areas, why not come and join the food drive anyway, the more the merrier for a great cause.

Paul Hickey is host of the locally based 9am-3pm show on The Hits Rotorua 97.5FM. Follow him on Facebook The Hits Rotorua and on Twitter @PaulH515.
