Kirsty Graham celebrates winning a $4000 shopping spree last weekend.

Anyone who has been reading this column will well and truly know that I am definitely no fan of fitness - in fact I could almost be described as the anti-fitness freak.

I enjoy a beer (which shows around the waist a wee bit) and my potato chips, however I do consider myself relatively healthy.

I don't mean to brag but I haven't had a sick day in over three years, and visits to the doctor are few and far between. I have never needed to visit a physiotherapist or chiropractor for any reason, but that changed this week. A bit of a shoulder strain while moving some furniture at home, prompted a visit to QE Health.

As a long-time local, I must admit to being pretty surprised by services they offer down there and it's all actually available to us.

So yesterday, I had a bit of what they offer with some physio and, today, I'm going to be pampered a wee bit in the spa area.

We really are so lucky with what we have here in Rotorua and, of course, there are even bigger plans in place for some major changes in the area at the lakefront where QE Health is - I can't wait to watch all that unfold.

Speaking of my anti-fitness regime, one event that has actually made me briefly reconsider is the Loaded Tough Guy & Gal Challenge. I've been at many of these over the years since its inaugural event in Rotorua 14-odd years ago, and while it looks pretty tough to take on, everyone seems really happy as they cross the line, normally covered in mud. It's a bit different to just a bland boring 6km run so maybe next year I might just do it. The event returns to Rotorua this weekend and I'm looking forward to checking it out as thousands take on the mud which will surely be plentiful after all the rain over the past few days. If you are heading out to Lakes Ranch to do it, good luck, have fun, and look out for the clown.

I wrote last week about one of the joys of my job is sometimes being kind of like a Santa or a fairy godfather - well this past week has been full of that.

Congrats to Kirsty Graham who we gave a $4000 shopping spree to as part of our Shop To Win at Rotorua Central.

And then you may have read in the Rotorua Daily Post the story about local woman Lyn Hepburn who on Wednesday night got to meet international superstar Adam Lambert thanks to The Hits and our Polly To The Rescue segment.

It was indeed a privilege to play a role in helping to make this happen for Lyn.
