Put your skills to the test with Orienteering Bay of Plenty's Modified Orienteering Challenge.

The aim of the challenge is to walk or run around a 5km or 10km course in Rotorua's Whakarewarewa Forest using a map put together by Orienteering Bay of Plenty.

The challenge is part of 'Virtually on Track', a new project supported by Sport Bay of Plenty, the Department of Conservation and Sport New Zealand. To incorporate the technology component in this challenge Sport Bay of Plenty has set up a competition on endomondo.com which allows participants to record and compare their times.

People can compete against others but can do so in their own time.

Project leader for Virtually on Track Jen Riley said she encouraged people to get involved.

"Have some fun while testing your speed and skill against others in this virtual time trial. No prior experience of orienteering is needed and the 5km course is great for families to have a go at."

To take part in the challenge sign up on endomondo.com and download the free Endomondo app to your phone.

Get a copy of the 5km or 10km course and instructions from sportbop.co.nz/virtuallyontrack-challenges.

You can complete the course as many times as you want between today and July 27.

For more information: sportbop.co.nz/virtuallyontrack or contact Jen Riley on (07) 578 0016 or email jenr@sportbop.co.nz.
