Opinion: Who's your person of the year?

The end of 2016 is fast approaching which means we want to hear who you think should be the Rotorua Daily Post Person of the Year.

We're looking for someone who has made a difference in our city this year, or in some way impacted on the lives of its citizens.

It might be someone who has been featured in our paper this year. Or it might be someone who has slid under the radar - until now that is.

They don't have to have cured a disease, won a gold medal or changed the lives of thousands. Maybe you know someone who has quietly been working to make a difference on a much smaller scale, but who is making a difference nonetheless.

During the year we have brought you hundreds, maybe thousands, of stories about amazing people in our community - so we know these people are out there.

Now, it's up to you to tell us about them and give them the recognition they deserve.

It's always a tough job to choose a winner, and in the past our winners have been diverse. Last year, it was Coroner Wallace Bain, who carried out a number of high-profile inquests in 2015. His work has continued throughout 2016 with among other things, the culmination of his inquiry into forestry deaths.

While we are looking forward to profiling the 2016 winner, we are also looking forward to highlighting the efforts of some of the other nominees.

At this time of year, it's nice to bring you positive stories. Help us out, nominate your person of the year and let us shine the spotlight of our most deserving residents.
