One person seriously injured in crash between Rotorua and Taupō

One person has serious injuries after a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian between Taupō and Rotorua this afternoon.

Police were called to the collision on State Highway 1, Ōruanui, at 2.44pm.

One person has been transported to hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.

The road was closed with diversions in place but was reopened about 4pm.

Motorists were told to expect delays.
