One person dead in Desert Road crash north of Waiouru

One person has died following a crash on State Highway 1 north of Waiouru.

The crash, involving a car and a truck, occurred about 3.45pm.

There were no other reported injuries.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible as the road remains blocked.
