One dead in Whakatane crash

Save One person has been killed in a crash between a car and a van near Whakatane.
In a written statement police said Initial reports indicated a number of people received minor injuries following the crash on Thornton Rd.
The road is currently blocked and diversions are in place at the
intersections of State Highway 30 and Thornton Rd, and Thornton Rd and East Bank Rd.
Police are asking people to avoid the area where possible and have patience if there are any delays.
