Motorists are being warned of an oil spill on State Highway 36 between Tauranga and Rotorua.
A police media spokeswoman said they were aware of a diesel spill on the highway near Te Matai Rd in the Ngawaro Gorge.
The spill is understood to be on the southbound lane and
contractors are being sent to clean it up.
The spokeswoman said traffic was moderate and advised motorists to drive with care.
