Oil spill alert for motorists heading to Rotorua on State Highway 5 passing lane

There is an oil spill on State Highway 5, south of Lake Rotomahana.

Police were called to oil in the passing lane on State Highway 5, driving towards Rotorua, between State Highway 38 and Waimangu Rd at 9.15am.

A police media spokeswoman said the spill was nearer to State Highway 38.

Contractors had been advised of the spill.
