The Rotorua Daily Post Home & Leisure Show is now part of a growing network of events.

NZME., publisher of the Rotorua Daily Post and owner of The Radio Network, has announced it is expanding its event business, buying nine regional events owned by Peacock Promotions.

These include wedding, home and women's lifestyle events in Tauranga, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.

On top of the Rotorua Home Show, NZME. already manages the Home Shows in Northland and Whanganui and fashion events under the Indulge brand in the Bay of Plenty.

Group Strategy and Operations Director Carolyn Luey said the acquisition strengthened NZME.'s event proposition throughout New Zealand.

She said regional expos and events were popular with more than 80,000 people attending in the past 12 months.

"The potential for businesses to engage with consumers is massive at a local community level in both the North and South Islands as a result of this acquisition."

Peacock Promotions owners Rob and Christine Woodhouse would be retained as consultants for the remainder of 2015 and 10 staff would "continue to provide dedicated resource to enable expansion of the number of events delivered in the regions."
