Executive officer Annette Burgess said Geyser had expanded its online donations facility to make it easier for donors.

Donations can now be made online from anywhere in the world to more than 11 funds held by the Geyser Community Foundation.

Executive officer Annette Burgess said Geyser had expanded its online donations facility to make it easier for donors.

"We have something that will appeal to almost everyone," she said.

"Together with our Rotorua and Taupo community funds, donors can now support a diverse range of local causes close to their hearts, including our environment, disabled sports people, mountain biking and animals.

"More and more people are becoming increasingly familiar with giving online.

"Anyone can contribute. People can support their local community from anywhere in the world and at any time, day or night." She said Geyser was committed to ensuring donors' privacy was protected and that information was secure.

Money donated to Geyser is invested and the investment income is used to support charities and community groups in the Rotorua and Taupo districts.

"All donations help build permanent funds, which will support our local community every year forever."

Mrs Burgess said the expansion of Geyser's online donations facility was made possible with support from Craigs Investment Partners. Donors receive an email confirmation and official receipts. A 1 per cent merchant fee applies to all donations made by credit card.
