Ngongotaha AFC have taken the WaiBOP Premiership title, securing a place in the play-offs to make the Northern league, before the season has even ended.
They needed just one point for an unassailable lead in their away match against Cambridge, last year's champions, on Saturday and they got three winningthe match 2-1.
Ngongotaha captain Dave Haua said he couldn't be more proud of his team.
"That wraps up the title for us, we are still celebrating and it's Sunday. It's not everyday you win the league.
"We didn't plan to win it. We came so close last season. Everything just went so well this season, it all just fell into place. I'm a bit stumped for words. We have been unbeaten for the last 38 games."
"From there we scored twice to win 2-1. It was definitely one of the hardest games this year.
"The crowd yesterday was awesome."
He said from here the last two games of the season would be good preparation for the home and away play-offs between whoever gets second in the Auckland league.
"If we win those play-offs we will get promoted into the Northern League. That will be huge for Rotorua."
