Ngati Whakaue commercial lawyer David Tapsell has been appointed to the board of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission.

Rotorua born and raised, Mr Tapsell is also a trustee and director on the property development Pukeroa Oruawhata Group.

In a statement to the Rotorua Daily Post, Pukeroa Group chairman Malcolm Short said it was pleasing to see Mr Tapsell's appointment to the Lotteries Commission.

"David was elected as our youngest board member over 12 years ago as part of our longer term succession plan. He is now chairman of the Pukeroa Group Finance and Expenditure Sub Committee," he said.

"It is great that over time more and more of our Te Arawa people are being selected for these national roles"
