Ngati Tuwharetoa Claims Settlement Bill submissions open

Public submissions are now open on the Ngati Tuwharetoa Claims Settlement Bill being considered by Parliament's Maori Affairs Committee.

The bill will give effect to the deed of settlement which was signed near Turangi in July by the Crown and Ngati Tuwharetoa.

The deed recorded the Crown's apology and agreed to a final settlement of all historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Ngati Tuwharetoa.

Ngati Tuwharetoa's rohe is in the central North Island, around Lake Taupo.

Submission on the bill can be sent up until midnight on Friday, February 2.
