Juliet Boone wants to add adventure and fun to people's lives.

Juliet Boone wants to add adventure and fun to people's lives.

This week's Newsmaker is Juliet Boone, creator of Singles Adventure Mates, a new website which connects single professionals in Rotorua.

Tell us about yourself:
Ah the worst question ever to try to answer. How about an anagram: Just. Unbelievably. Likeable. Interesting. Entertaining & Talented. Take note of the 'unbelieveably' bit.

How did you get into your career?
A friend just sent me an email, laughing, that I have created a whole business just so that I can find love. Hmmm. Well I suppose it helps that I have had a lot of experience at being single. I guess I am such an unbelievably likeable, interesting, entertaining and talented person, that no one wants to go out with me. Oh hang on that doesn't make sense. I might have to take another look at my profile.

What do you love about your job?
I enjoy outdoor pursuits, artistic pursuits, trying new things. I have been involved in organising festivals and events and I have also worked in areas that are about helping others such as teaching, mental health, and aged care. I have decided that what works for me is to combine them all: to have adventure and fun, while contributing in a way that makes a real difference to others. Singles Adventure Mates I think will satisfy all these things.

What have been your biggest achievements?
Honestly, being a mum for the last 12 years! Also paying bills, doing house maintenance, having a job, that kind of stuff. Sometimes I freak myself out when I think about the responsibilities, but then I tell myself to be quiet and just keep going, it's worked out so far.

What do you love about Rotorua?
How lucky are we to have a forest five minutes from the town, and the lakes and the rivers! And it's awesome to be able to get to all these places within such a short time, plus school, supermarkets, town etc. Leaves more time to actually live your life, instead of travel to it. I think it helps to create the nice laid back vibe around Rotorua too.

Tell us three things about yourself most people wouldn't know:
Crikey, I think I may be an open book for most that know me. And what they don't know, well I don't want to bore you or me silly by talking about it, especially that one time...after ninja training camp...there was a strange light in the sky.
