New single by Howard Morrison Jnr proving a hit online

Howard Morrison Jnr's latest single is already proving popular with more than 20,000 views online since its release on Sunday.

The video for his latest single Mum has already had 23,000 views through Facebook after it was released on Sunday for Mother's Day.

The video features clips of local people with their mothers including members of Morrison's whanau.

His debut album,

Howie

, goes on sale this Friday and will feature nine tracks including two originals.

One of his favourite songs on the album is

Fly Me To The Moon

.

"I've always loved that song but I have topped it up a bit, I've thrown in some Maori lyrics, edited a key change to give it a different sound.

"On the new album, my mother [Lady Kuia Morrison] likes the song Mum and my wife likes Children Go [Where I Send Thee], a gospel remake."

Morrison said he hoped to tour the new album if people liked the new songs.
