Consistent valuations, safety and proximity to the Redwoods were just some of the reasons Judith Horrocks chose to move from Auckland to Lynmore in Rotorua.

After a busy life jumping off mountains (base jumping) and working as an outback nurse, Ms Horrocks said it was the right time for her next adventure in Rotorua.

"Auckland just got so busy, Rotorua just feels nice," she said. "It has everything here and it's great for the outdoors."

Moving down from Epsom she spent a couple of years looking for a property around Rotorua but liked the vibe of Lynmore.

"I go a lot by how it feels," she said. "There are a few other places around, but this one was just right."

Ms Horrocks said the proximity to the Redwoods, the sustained property value and the safety of the neighbourhood were the things she was drawn to.

"I don't know a lot about real estate, but I could see that it had held its value," she said.

"I had no idea how beautiful all the lakes were. When I walk around it looks cared for and well maintained."

Once she had found the property Ms Horrocks said she knew it was important to act quickly.

"There were a lot of people interested, so I couldn't mess around," she said.

Her real estate agent, Karl Hereford, with Professionals Rotorua, has also recently purchased a house in Lynmore.

"Buying in the suburb is difficult. I think people are reluctant to start selling till they find somewhere and that's a negative spiral," Mr Hereford said. "Those that are brave enough to just jump in, it usually all works out."

Mr Hereford said Lynmore Primary School was the main reason he chose the suburb.

"My children aren't at school yet, but we do want them to go there, because we've heard such good things," he said.
