Marist St Michael's Sports Club has received a welcome boost ahead of the upcoming netball season.

The club's netball chairwoman Rachel Wood applied for the ANZ On Your Team programme to support the women playing for the club this year, most of them being mothers. In her application she said the new gear would "help netballers from the club train to the best of their abilities and step on court with confidence".

"[The gear] will be split between our six teams to help us train and play this season. We have over 65 women now playing netball at Marist which is the most we have had for a number of years," Wood said.

"Most are mums who like to play netball as their outlet so having the grant helps to save costs and enables more ladies to be able to play. We are looking forward to the 2019 season and creating a great club atmosphere."

ANZ head of sponsorship Sue McGregor says supporting Kiwi netballers at all levels was something they were proud of.

"We know that having the support of someone on your team, backing you all the way, can make a massive difference in achieving your netball goals," McGregor says.
