The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have defeated the Southern Steel in their playoff match today following extra time.

The Magic and Steel met in Hamilton today during the first round of the ANZ Championship playoffs.

The Magic progressed to the final four teams in the playoffs thanks to a 71-69 extra time win today.

The crowd at the Claudelands Arena were treated to a thrilling match after the scores were level at the end of regular time. The scores were still tied after the first period of extra time, but the Magic pulled away in the second.
