Napier engineer killed in Kinleith crash

Police have released the name of the woman who died following a collision in Kinleith, near Tokoroa last night.

She was 27-year-old Kirsten Maree Mann from Napier.

Ms Mann worked as an engineer at Opus International Consultants in Napier and Hawke's Bay Today understands she was married last year and moved here from Australia.

Two other people involved in the crash remained in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital and another two were discharged from Tokoroa Hospital last night.

Police said their thoughts were with the friends and family of Ms Mann and those involved.

The Serious Crash Unit was investigating the fatal crash, which was nationally the 179th for the year.

According to the Ministry of Transport the number of fatals this year were ahead of last year, where 151 had been recorded up until July 10.

The number of deaths on the roads as at July 10 were also up on last year with 200 this year compared to 175 in 2016.
