Name released for fatal Galatea motorcycle crash

Police have released the name of the motorcyclist killed in the Galatea area on Tuesday.

He was 35-year-old Neihana Hawera, from Lake Matahina.

Whakatane Sergeant Ray Wylie told the Rotorua Daily Post the motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries, near Lake Matahina on May 16.

The serious crash unit is investigating.

Police thanked members of the public who helped with their inquiries and extended their deepest sympathies to Hawera's family and friends.
