A man has been taken to Rotorua Hospital after a crash between a car and motorbike on Te Ngae Rd. Photo/Ben Fraser

Police have been called to the scene of a crash involving a van and a motorcycle on Te Ngae Rd.

A police media spokeswoman said the call came in at 4.05pm.

"It appears to be at the intersection of Te Ngae Rd and Hamiora Pl.

"One male patient is conscious and breathing, an off duty ambulance officer at the scene has assesed him as having moderate injuries."

A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said there was a man lying on the road covered in a silver foil blanket.

A spokeswoman for St John said one man was transported to Rotorua Hospital in a moderate condition.
