Two men have been injured in separate motorcross incidents across the region.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was sent to Mangakino 12pm yesterday where a 19 year-old motocross rider fell from his bike and received a head injury that required hospital assessment.

He was checked over by St John paramedics before being flown to Waikato hospital.

The helicopter was then diverted to Pongakawa where a 30 year-old rider had fallen from his bike receiving chest and back injuries. The man was stabilised by a St John paramedic before being flown to Rotorua for further treatment.

The helicopter was called to both incidents due to the remote locations and distance to the required hospitals.
