The national moto trials championship win record has been broken and, if Jake Whitaker has anything to do with it, that record will be broken again a few more times yet.

The 24-year-old Wellington furniture polisher was again simply too slick for his rivals at the 2015 Farmlands New Zealand Moto Trials Championships in Taranaki, winning all three days of Expert Grade competition over the Labour Weekend.

Rotorua's John Hayes was runner-up with Nelson's Nicholas Oliver rounding out the expert grade podium.

It was the eighth time Whitaker has won the Expert Grade outright, placing him alone at the top of the sport in New Zealand.

Whitaker has been branching out and tackling enduro events and he believes it is perhaps his enduro experiences in recent months that have given him added strength, making him a more rounded sportsman and certainly a more aggressive rider.

He was fearless as he tackled each of the three courses over the weekend.
