The Lakefront will be transformed into a magical space thanks to the art of many keen Rotorua residents.
Once night falls on New Year's Eve, the grove of trees between the playground and Village Green will glow with a swarm of butterflies and the trees will be wrapped in fluorescentart. But there is still more art to be made, according to organiser and artist Ally Rogers.
Tomorrow she will be taking the last of the workshops at The Arts Village and said everyone was welcome to take part.
"You don't need any skills, or materials, and you don't need to be any particular age, just come with your ideas and make art."
She's been excited to see the range of art that has been made to decorate the trees, and it includes a Zen tangle drawing and collaborative children's drawings.
Ms Rogers is keen to get more people involved in the project and it's not too late to get cracking.
"I want to engage as many people in this project as possible and if they want me to come to them, I will come out and take the workshops at child centres or retirement villages."
