Mini Bashers would be doing collections all day and the fees paid by teams attending and an auction later in the day would contribute to the charity.
On Sunday, the people of Mamaku would get a taste of the Variety Mini Bash when the teams would head to Mamaku School for a community project.
Ms Preston-Thomas said Sunday morning would be dedicated to a special community project at the school, including painting the swimming pool.
The bash would also visit Skyline Rotorua and the Soundshell markets at the Lakefront on Sunday.
