Rotorua Lakes High School once again had great success at the recent regional Bay of Plenty Science Fair, coming away with many prizes and accolades.

Fourteen groups of students competed in six separate sections - Junior Science (Year 9 and 10), Junior Technology (Year 9 and 10), Art in Science and Special Award sections, Senior Science and Senior Technology.

The students had been working hard on their projects over many months studying a variety of diverse topics.

These projects included inventing a waterproof bike seat cover and creating a device that can be used to aid in blood collection at night for diabetics.

"I worked really hard developing a cover for my bike seat because I was sick of having to ride home with a wet seat," Amy Nattrass said after winning her section.

"The judges gave me great feedback on the development of my project so I can refine it further."
