A Rotorua man has been reappointed to the Bay of Plenty Community Trust, known as BayTrust.
Roku Mihinui, who is chief executive of Te Arawa Lakes Trust, and Steve Morris of Papamoa, have been reappointed for four years. Their terms were due to end on May 31.
The Associate Ministerof Finance, Dr Jonathan Coleman, announced the re-appointments yesterday.
Mr Mihinui is also a committee member on the Ministry of Social Development's Maori Reference Group. Among his various other community and business associations he is a director of Te Taumata O Te Puia Ltd and co-chair of Maori Tourism in Rotorua.
Mr Morris is a Tauranga City Councillor and is at present seeking selection as the National Party candidate for the Bay of Plenty electorate. He is also an elder of the Papamoa Baptist Church and a lay member of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.
A third retiring trustee, Karla Hammond of Whakatane, was not reappointed. She is a past mayoress of Whakatane. She has been replaced by Wayne Marriott, also of Whakatane. Mr Marriott is currently culture and heritage manager for Te Runanga o Ngati Awa. He is also a council member for both NZ Arts Council Toi Aotearoa and NZ Society of Genealogists. He is a director of Te Waipounamu Museums, a cultural heritage and tourism consultancy.
